NAGO HOTELS - All hotels in Nago

Nago is the tourist resort located in a sunny spot on the lake's shore. Recent archeological findings prove that the area was populated already around 4500 years B.C. Among findings, there are plenty of dating back to 2500-3000 years B.C. In the 17th century, the d'Arco famiily combined the village with the nearby resort - Torbole. In the 16th century, when Michel de Montaigne was visiting the town, he noticed it was strongly surrounded by the walls. Nestled between the summits of Penede and San Zeno Nago's location is very convenient. It is shelted from the northern, cold winds what guarantees superb Alpine micro-climate directly on the lake shore. The historical party of the town almost reaches the San Zeno summit. On the opposite side of the village, traveler will find the 18th century parish church of San Rocco, located on the long street full of stone houses with impressive portals. Several paths stem from the main street and climb up the San Zeno summit. At the peak, there is an ancient church of San Zeno. The legend says it was populated by Roman shepherds long B.C. Although restored in the 16th century the church is now almost ruins. Going a bit down the the lower part of the town should result in visiting the Nago forts built by the Austrians in 1862 and recently prepared to serve as a tourist attraction.

The Santa Lucia road connects Nago with Torbole, which can be reached within half an hour of walk (2 kilometers). The road goes along a wild valley between the Penede cliffs and Dos de Villa e Sciani. Traveler can appreciate slopes filled with plenty olive groves. In 1439 Venetian fleet was transported to Torbole from the Adriatic Sea to gain the control over the Lake Garda.
