BARDOLINO HOTELS - All hotels in Bardolino
Bardolino is so far one of the most enchanting places on the lake. Worldwide known for the production of the local wine of the same name, it will take us on tour through the medieval history of Italy. For centuries, Bardolino was moving between zones of influence of various kings, local princes and noble families. Nowadays, Bardolino is full of traces of its past: the towers of the Scaliger walls, garden parks and villas of Venetian style. The greatest town's pride are two churches: San Severo - the Romanesque sacral construction dating back to the end of the 9th century and the 8th-century San Zeno with frescoes of the Madonna with Child and Saint Peter.
But Bardolino is not famous for its history. Apart from sightseeing, the Bardolino offers a wide range of hotels, apartment complexes, camping sites, resorts and sports facilities. Water skiing, horseback riding and mountain bike tours are just a couple of sports activities possible in the town. Everyone should also experience a walk along 'strada del vino' (Wine Route) - a path going along the vineyards and olive groves.
When in Bardolino, tasting local food based on fresh fish from the Lake Garda is a must. It is also home for the worldwide known type of red and rose wine of the same name. The first information about it comes as early as from the fourteenth century. From the local olive groves comes great light flavoured olive oill and is usually added to most of the dishes. Generally, most of the dishes are served from locally grown crops.
There are four main festivals held in Bardolino. These are:
- The Grape Festival - held in October
- The Chiaretto Wine Festival - held in May
- TheNovello Wine Festival - held in November
- The Bird Festival ('Sagra dei Osei') - in September.
